WHY A RING SLING?
The ring sling allows you to wear a newborn, a small baby and a toddler. Due to its small size, the ring sling is very handy: you can take it with you in your bag or in a stroller. The ring sling is very quick, simple and easy to use. You don’t have to wrap it.
The best position for newborns is tummy-to-tummy (front carry). You can wear older kids tummy-to-tummy, on the hip or even (occasionally) on your back.
Because of the asymmetrical weight distribution on your back, we recommend using the ring sling for maximum 15-30 minutes on one shoulder (depending on the age and the weight of your baby) and changing the shoulders frequently.
PREPARING THE RING SLING
Choose the hip on which you want to carry the baby. Place the rings on the opposite shoulder. Spread the fabric over your back and hold the tail with the other hand.
Grab the rails and spread the sling. Make sure that the fabric is not twisted.
Fold the fabric so you can hold it in one hand. Pass the tail through both rings. Make sure that the edges are not twisted. Separate the rings.
Pass the tail over the upper ring and under the bottom ring. Spread the fabric evenly on the rings. You should be able to access both rails.Place the rings high on your shoulder — they will move down a little during adjusting the sling.
PLACING THE BABY INTO THE SLING
Place the baby against the “free” shoulder. Slide the baby into the sling pouch carefully. Place the lower rail of the sling under the baby’s bottom. Spread it from knee to knee.Spread the wrap neatly over the baby’s back.
The upper rail of the sling should be in the line with the earlap. Ensure that there’s plenty of fabric tucked under the baby’s bottom.
If necessary, tighten the wrap to the bottom. Make sure that the baby is in the “frog” position.
Spread the sling on your shoulder. The rings should be placed just under your collarbone and the sling should be far from your neck.
Done!
You can place your baby in the front or on the hip!
What other things are important?
When wrapping your baby always make sure you secure him/her for the whole time. Before taking first ups, make sure your baby remains relaxed and replete.
